About Luke
Luke first developed his interest in jewellery design in the late eighties, creating unusual pieces in plastics. These proved to be extremely popular and were regularly featured in the press; as a result he decided to study the art of diamond mounting at university.
He was accepted into Sir John Cass, a department of the London Guildhall University famous for its jewellery and silversmithing. He soon excelled and graduated in 1996 with a distinction, winning the prestigious David Morris award for diamond mounting together with first prize in the Goldsmiths awards.
After leaving university Luke joined the team at prestigious jewellers Jess James in London’s Soho and before long was promoted to head of workshop, meeting with the clients designing bespoke engagement and wedding rings as well as producing beautiful diamond pieces for the store.
In 2002 Luke left Jess James to take up a new post in Sydney to work with the renowned Australian jeweller Melissa Harris, who commissioned him to design and produce work for her new precious collection. He returned to Jess James in 2003 where he has remained as the company’s principal designer and jeweller.
